Dr. Vanek uses BOTOX® to relax facial muscles which in turn softens and diminishes wrinkles. When your facial muscles contract, they tighten, fold and wrinkle the skin. BOTOX® temporarily inhibits muscle contraction. Juvéderm® is a dermal filler used by Dr. Vanek to add volume and fill in fine lines around the lips – volume loss is one of the telltale signs of aging. Hyaluronic acid is naturally occurring, found in soft tissues of the human body and is the basis of Juvéderm®.
Because of it’s bio-compatibility and cross linking, the FDA has validated results that last about one year. Restylane® is made from hyaluronic acid, has similar properties to Juvéderm® and is used to treat similar areas. Dr. Vanek uses a dermal filler called Radiesse® to fill in deeper wrinkles and even scars. Made from calcium mineral found naturally in human bones and teeth, Radiesse® is long lasting, and provides a larger volume per syringe to treat the atrophy of the face associated with aging. It comes from a manufactured source so you don’t have to worry about contamination. The hydroxyapatite beads, the size of a red blood cell are in a liquid carrier that allows it to pass smoothly through a tiny needle. The hydroxyapatite molecule stimulates your own collagen production and this effect lasts for about two years.
Comprised of a bio-compatible lactic acid, Sculptra® triggers collagen production, so over time, the skin thickens in the desired areas for a fuller and more youthful appearance. Performed in a sequence of injections over three months, the biological effects have been seen for up to 4 years in patient studies. “The disappearance of fine lines is more gradual with this product, but the effect is rejuvenation across the entire face for Sculptra® treated patients,” observes Dr. Vanek.
