If you are interested in rejuvenating your skin to counteract the damage caused by sun, environment and age, Dr. Vanek suggests his proprietary blend of laser resurfacing treatments at his Cleveland area practice known as the Mentor Peel.
First we use an erbium laser for resurfacing; it’s a 10 micron (0.0004 inch) laser peel using a Zimmer Chiller that fools your skin into not even knowing we took off its top layer. It’s painless,” explains Dr. Paul Vanek, a board-certified general and plastic surgeon. “Then we apply a light application of topical lidocaine, and use a laser called a profractional laser which gives us gated, microscopic perforations, kind of like lawn aeration. It aerates your skin at a 22% wound ratio, which lets it heal in one day with a great improvement in skin appearance. Depending on how much downtime you have available, we can adjust the intensity. As far as recovery, the Mentor Peel is usually three days to makeup, with about two weeks of pinkness.”
“I am stimulating the wound healing response,” says Dr. Vanek, a bio-chemist and researcher for NIH and FDA safety studies. “I’m taking advantage of the natural mechanisms of collagen and skin rejuvenation, and I’m using them in a gated and controlled way to achieve an outcome of making your skin look more youthful next week. And it lasts a long time; it really rejuvenates the skin.” As with all his procedures, Dr. Vanek believes a great outcome begins with the consultation. Your individual anatomy and your aesthetic goals will create a series of treatment options for Dr. Vanek to review with you. He will help restore your skin’s youthful glow. “Take advantage of my training, experience and the physics of laser energy. I can make you look younger,” Dr. Vanek says. “Give us a call. I’d love to talk with you and help you celebrate your beauty.”
