Botox

“I do the injections. I think a plastic surgeon has a unique expertise to bring to your aging face needs.” – Dr. Paul Vanek

If you are considering BOTOX® Cosmetic or an injectable filler treatment to rejuvenate your appearance, you’ve come to the right place to celebrate your beauty. “I know the anatomy of the face. I am able to analyze the underlying structures and formulate the right treatment options,” says Dr. Vanek, a board-certified general and plastic surgeon serving Cleveland, Ohio. “With so many dermal fillers to choose from, I am able to optimally select the product, the locations and the amount of product you need to rejuvenate your face in a way that you’ll say looks marvelous.”

During your consultation, Dr. Vanek will assess your individual anatomy, and discuss your aesthetic goals and your possible outcome in terms of your own structures. He will help you understand the risks and benefits of any procedure and empower you to make an informed, medically sound decision.

Botox treatments available in Cleveland

“During our consultation, I will sit and talk with you. With a mirror I’ll ask, ‘What bothers you?’ Then I’ll look at the condition of your skin, your sun damage, your age, the thickness of your muscles – we are very careful to analyze your structural needs. And because of our expertise and experience, we are going to tailor our treatment to fit you and your goals.”

“No one will ever know you’ve had BOTOX®, if it’s done right,” explains Dr. Vanek, who has practiced aesthetic medicine in Cleveland, Ohio since 1996. “You just look softer next week – that’s it. You look more approachable, youthful and vibrant.”

Dr. Vanek and his staff believe in tailoring every procedure to help you reach your aesthetic goals. “Until you come in for a consultation, we won’t know what you need for a refreshed appearance. Maybe a dermal filler makes more sense. Strategically adding volume to your face takes that severe, gaunt look away, removing the aged appearance that makes you look tired.”

What are some injectables that Dr. Vanek offers?

Dr. Vanek uses BOTOX® Cometic to relax facial muscles which in turn softens and diminishes wrinkles. When your facial muscles contract, they tighten, fold and wrinkle the skin. BOTOX® temporarily inhibits muscle contraction. Other agents on the market with similar effects include Xeomin and Dysport.

JUVÉDERM® and Restylane® dermal fillers

JUVÉDERM® is a dermal filler used by Dr. Vanek to plump lips and fill in fine-line wrinkles around the lips. Hyaluronic acid is naturally occurring, found in soft tissues of the human body and is the basis of JUVÉDERM®. Because of its bio-compatibility, the results last approximately six months to a year. Restylane® is made from hyaluronic acid, has similar properties to JUVÉDERM® and is used to treat similar areas.

Radiesse®

Dr. Vanek uses a long-lasting dermal filler called Radiesse® to fill in deeper wrinkles and even scars. It is made from a naturally occurring calcium mineral found in human bones and teeth. Radiesse® results last a long time, it stays supple in the tissue and dissolves over time.

Sculptra®

Sculptra® is used by Dr. Vanek to add volume to areas of the face where fat loss has occurred. Comprised of a bio-compatible lactic acid, Sculptra® triggers collagen production, so over time, the skin thickens in the desired areas for a fuller and more youthful appearance.

How long is the recovery?

“Each product is different, and used differently, so the recovery times are very different. Let’s say you have a big event coming up and you want to look refreshed and rejuvenated, you only need a few days to be ‘camera ready’ after a JUVÉDERM® treatment,” explains Dr. Vanek, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. “You’ll look your best about one to two months after a Radiesse® treatment. Radiesse® triggers collagen production so you get a very natural look after some time. Five days after a BOTOX® treatment, you’ll have a softer appearance, but it will take about two months for deep wrinkle remodeling to occur.”

In addition to injectable treatments, Dr. Vanek offers a variety of minimally-invasive procedures to rejuvenate your appearance, including high-tech laser-based treatments and his line of personally formulated skin use agents – Vanek cosmeceuticals. Dr. Vanek is a bio-chemist and researcher who has participated in NIH- and FDA-funded studies.

COMPARISON

Botox vs. Browlift

Botox or Browlift? What should I do?

I have been happy with wrinkle control Botox, but more recently my brow position is getting slumped. What should I do?

You may be experiencing brow ptosis. This is defined as the lowered position of the brow and forehead laxity that comes with genetics, sun damage, age, and sometimes the dosing of your Botox or neurotoxin of your choice. I first need to examine you to determine what is going on.

We will review your injection experience and perhaps recommend a lower dose of the neurotoxin you may be receiving in your frontalis muscle, the muscle that elevates your brow and contributes to forehead wrinkles. If the lower dose lets you compensate, then the problem is solved for a time. But if your examination shows slumping of your brow in the outer rim of your orbit, you may be a candidate for a one-hour procedure that repositions your brow through three 1 inch incisions, called an endoscopic brow lift. This long-lasting procedure restores your upper facial eye brow position, it relaxes the crows feet around your eyes, and it takes away the hooding between your eyes (over your nose) in a way that Botox, Juveau, Dysport, and Xeomin cannot. The appearance change is very natural, and involves very small incisions in your hair, that allow me to restore your youthful appearance with a 5 mm endoscope! You don’t need
your hair shaved. You can shampoo and style your hair the next day. The incisions usually heal in about 10-14 days. Your softened upper face looks well rested, not surprised. You can resume most business activities in a few days after surgery. While bruising is possible, there are no incisions around the eyes for endoscopic brow lifting, unless you wish to remove the under-eye “bags” the same day, or you have a lot of excess upper eyelid skin. If you look in the mirror and like the appearance you see when you softly raise your eyebrow with your fingers, and see that your nose bridge looks less tired and grumpy and your face looks more rested. If this is your desire, you can contact my office and arrange for a complimentary consultation to evaluate what’s going on. We will discuss the options, and perhaps use some digital imaging to show you how you will look with your new look. I will show you gallery photos of patients who have undergone this revolutionary procedure!
